Overview
Edliv Samanta provides quality education for children & development programs for youth in remote geographies of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Rural areas in these states are inhabited primarily by marginalized minority communities including traditional forest dwellers, pastoral nomads, tribal and rural scheduled castes. The foundation aims to bridge educational gaps and promote holistic child development through targeted interventions.
Program focus
Edliv Samanta partnered with Bansuri to implement Project SEEDS, an initiative aimed at transforming Anganwadi Centers (AWCs) into model spaces for holistic child development. The project also introduced a fellowship program to train local youth in enhancing the knowledge and skills of Anganwadi workers (AWWs).
Aligned with NEP 2020, the project focuses on:
- Targeted training programs to build the capacity of AWWs and their assistants.
- Community engagement to increase parental involvement in early childhood education.
- Development of teaching & learning materials to improve learning efficacy.
- Introduction of innovative educational practices to enhance learning outcomes.
Needs Assessment Insights:
Prior to implementation, a needs assessment revealed several challenges:
- Low enrollment rates in AWCs due to lack of awareness and engagement.
- Limited use of local languages in early childhood learning environments.
- Minimal parental involvement in children’s early education.
- Limited understanding of NEP 2020 among educators affecting training and implementation.
- Lack of adequate training opportunities for Anganwadi workers, particularly their assistants.
- Restricted access to teaching resources, limiting effective early education.
Outcomes
Bansuri’s support has been instrumental in refining Project SEEDS, helping Edliv Samanta evaluate and strengthen its program design with an alternative perspective. Through quarterly calls, regular emails, and one-on-one conversations, Bansuri has provided a collaborative space for dialogue, allowing for deeper strategic thinking and organic insights beyond structured reporting. The trust and warmth in this partnership have fostered both institutional and personal growth.
Key contributions include:
- Facilitating knowledge exchanges with other partner organizations to enhance best practices.
- Sponsoring further education and training for members of the partner organizations, strengthening their expertise.
- Supporting reflective learning beyond formal reporting, allowing for adaptive improvements.
- Strengthening AWW capacity, leading to improved quality of services and more effective learning environments for children.
- Providing funding to deepen the knowledge of founders.
Through this partnership, Edliv Samanta has been able to scale impact, refine implementation strategies, and build a stronger foundation for early childhood education in some of India’s most underserved regions.
