Overview

Sai Krishna Charitable Trust (SKCT), located in rural Karnataka, envisions a self-reliant society guided by love and a life of purpose. The organization operates across key verticals:

Sai Krishna Vidya Mandir (SKVM) – an English medium school for rural children.
Primary Healthcare Center – providing essential medical services to underserved communities.
Residential Children’s Home – supporting underprivileged children with shelter and care.
3H Skill Development Center – Empowering youth with practical and cognitive skills for employability and life readiness.

Program focus

The 3H SKCT Skill Development initiative has two key programs that equip young learners from marginalized backgrounds with essential life and employment skills:

School-Level Program: Holistic Skill Development (Grades 7-9)
School-Level Program: Holistic Skill Development (Grades 7-9) designed to nurture cognitive, emotional, and practical competencies, preparing students to navigate life’s challenges.
Located near SKVM, this program helps adolescents cultivate essential life skills, confidence, and adaptability.

Key components of the program include:

Design Thinking: Encourages problem solving, innovation, and a mindset of inquiry through hands-on projects, collaboration, and systematic approaches.

Computer Skills Training: Provides exposure to software applications (MS Office, Tally, GST filing) and emerging technologies like animation and AI tools to enhance digital proficiency.

Handicrafts & Artistic Expression: Includes pottery, jewelry making, and other creative pursuits to refine motor skills, foster appreciation for craftsmanship, and develop aesthetic sensibilities.

Music & Clay Modeling: Introduces students to self-expression and creativity through structured artistic workshops, improving focus, patience, and appreciation for the arts.

Personality Development & SelfAwareness: Helps students build emotional intelligence, resilience, and ethical foundations through group discussions and reflective exercises.

Outcomes:

Improved critical thinking, problem solving, and digital literacy.

Strengthened socio-emotional learning, leading to greater self awareness, confidence, and adaptability.

Exposure to diverse disciplines, enabling students to explore their passions and develop a lifelong love for learning.

Empowerment of students to become confident, competent, and compassionate leaders who contribute positively to their communities.
Project 3H Catalyst: College-Level Training and Upskilling program
College-Level Training & Upskilling program for students at government colleges in Tier 2 & 3 towns of Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. It addresses employability gaps in white-collar sectors. It was incubated at IIM Bangalore (NSRCEL) and is implemented by successful IIT, IIM, SSIHL alumni and retired ISRO scientists, leveraging rich corporate experience to mentor rural students.

Why This Matters

A 2021 Aspire Mind report found that nearly 65% of graduates from government colleges are unemployable for white-collar jobs. Project 3H Catalyst bridges this gap by equipping students with 21st-century skills crucial for professional success. Learning Modules include communication and digital literacy, logical reasoning, financial literacy, self-awareness and emotional intelligence , entrepreneurial mindset development, and workplace readiness training.

Scale & Impact:

430 students trained in 2022-23

950 students trained in 2023-24

60 hours of training per student across 2 semesters

8 structured learning modules

Recruiters included: Volkswagen, Muthoot Finance, Just Dial, Motherson, and more

Positive employer feedback: Principals and recruiters praised the improved candidate quality in 2024.

Engagement with Bansuri

Bansuri has supported SKCT beyond financial support – refining their Theory of Change & Logframe for strategic alignment, advising on their reporting methods and connecting them with likeminded CSR and implementation partners.

In 2022, Bansuri also provided interactive panels for 2 Smart Classrooms at the SKCT rural school to support first-generation learners. Selected as a pilot school for the NEP, during COVID. it was an ideal testing ground for the implementation of a novel scheme called Guided Offline Approach to Learning (GOAL). Also made teaching more interesting using the available multi media tools.

Outcomes

Enhanced teaching methods through multimedia tools, making lessons more engaging.
Implemented a Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring systematic access to course content, assessments, and feedback, thus personalizing learning experiences.
By supporting both school-level and college-level upskilling initiatives, the SKCT Skill Development Center and Project 3H Catalyst together create a continuum of growth, ensuring that underprivileged students in rural India develop the skills and confidence to secure meaningful employment and lead empowered lives.
