Sai Shraddha, a Community Centre in the Walhekarwadi area of Pune, started in 2010. It was developed into a space for women to connect with their inner self, to interact with other like-minded women and to engage with professionals and innovative thinkers from different walks of life. Collectively, this has enabled women to access information, new thoughts and alternative views and ideas and to develop a bond in their communities. This in turn led to the involvement of adolescents and men from these families to take up local issues and to strengthen the family unit.
The women are now more confident and play more important roles in their families and communities. They have begun to question certain social customs and prejudices detrimental to their progress and happiness.
